From September 9th to 10th, the 2026 Drug Digital and Intelligent Development Conference, hosted by the Information Center of the National Medical Products Administration, was held in Chongqing. Lei Ping, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the National Medical Products Administration, attended the conference and delivered a speech. More than 500 participants, including leaders from relevant departments and bureaus of the National Medical Products Administration, directly affiliated units, provincial-level medical products administrations, industry experts, and representatives of pharmaceutical enterprises, attended the conference.

The construction of intelligent supervision has achieved phased results

In his speech, Lei Ping introduced that in recent years, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) has coordinated and planned the construction of smart drug supervision, incorporating the application of artificial intelligence into its overall planning and promotion. Currently, the top-level design of smart drug supervision has basically taken shape, the construction of the digital and intelligent foundation has begun to take scale, and multiple practical applications have been implemented and shown effectiveness. The basic capabilities and digital application levels of smart supervision in the pharmaceutical field have been significantly improved.

Clarify the main focus for the next phase of development and advance the deep empowerment of AI in drug supervision work

Lei Ping emphasized that in response to the new requirements for enhancing and upgrading intelligent supervision, digital supervision of drugs should adhere to the principles of "coordinated planning, integrated construction, and unified supervision". With the implementation of the "Opinions on the Implementation of 'Artificial Intelligence + Drug Supervision'" as the main line, relying on data element drive and scenario application traction, we should continuously promote the deepening and practical application of "artificial intelligence + drug supervision", and use digital means to enhance the supervision efficiency of the entire drug lifecycle.
